Hi there! Thanks for visiting! I’m Katherine, a former higher education professional turned housewife, blogger and entrepreneur. This blog is about finding happily ever after in the middle of the mundane, and using gratitude and a positive mindset to turn the ordinary into extraordinary. I like to tell stories, so this is a collection of short stories, some true, some fiction, to hopefully inspire more happiness in this broken world.
A Little About Me
I spent the first 15 years of my adult life in careers in higher education where I earned my bachelor’s degree in business administration with majors in marketing and management while climbing the career ladder. My accomplishments, hard work and positive attitude resulted in promotions and a role as one of thirteen champions for the organization’s Lean initiative, during which I earned my yellow belt certification in Lean Six Sigma.
In Spring, 2016, my husband and I made the decision for me to stay at home with our two young children. Interspersed with caring for them, and spending time with my husband, family and friends, I write for this blog.
A Little About This Blog
So what is this pixie dust and whiskey about? Happily ever after isn’t something we find. It’s something we make. Adversity will sometimes come out of nowhere and knock us flat on our back (sort of like a bottle of whiskey). And then what? How do we get back up again? It takes faith that it is all a part of our life story, and trust in what’s to come. And a little bit of pixie dust (God’s guiding light) to help us fly. As it turns out, sometimes the greatest adversities are the doorways to our true potential.
“All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me… You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.” -Walt Disney
I believe in creating a way despite obstacles, and everyone has the potential for happiness by choosing to see the beauty in every day and the potential in every roadblock. I’m here to share inspiring stories of mine and others on this journey we call life. Will you join me?
And so we can learn to fly not in spite of our obstacles but because of them . . .
“All you need is a little faith, trust, and pixie dust.” -Peter Pan (Peter Pan)
